ABPAC ... ABPAC - Australian Business and People's Alliance Council Inc. ABPAC was formed as a Non-Profit, Non-Political Organisation to give individuals, businesses, associations, communities and other entities a platform to be heard. Its aim is to assist and support communities, community groups, business and individuals. This is totally symbolic as this ‘Umbrella’ will provide protection for our Democratic Society — not protection from external forces, but protection against forces from within. Like an umbrella, ABPAC can be used for a variety of purposes … and by anyone. ABPAC is a Neutral Platform upon which All Individuals or All communities and every individual in each community can unite, as necessary, to stand for a cause which supports a worthwhile outcome— whether it is for the entire community or for an individual. A neutral platform has no boundaries – it does not discriminate urban from rural, local from remote, or the easy from the difficult – it is there for the benefit of ALL … and All that it achieves, is achieved for ALL, to benefit ALL. In Australia the words FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY describe our way of life. They are so deeply rooted in our minds that any thought of not having Democracy and thus limited or no Freedom, is unacceptable to our belief patterns. We live in a Free Society and we enjoy Democracy … and that’s that ! But it is this very Freedom that allows for a ‘Fly to get into the ointment’. When this ambition surfaces in respect of a person holding a position of power, whether it is within the corporate sector or in governance, there is a possibility that the action followed in achieving the predetermined goals, may impact on part or all of the community. How do you overcome this ? The Law has been structured to provide limitations and give protection to all. But, what if the ones creating the problems, also have access to making changes in the Law … How do you overcome this ?? Democratic Societies build in safeguards during their formation, to reassure the People that the social structure is set up to work for their common good. Over time this is accepted as a ‘fact of life’ within that Society and everyone lives in trust that those elected to public office and positions of trust will maintain focus on the common good. |

It takes an event such as a “911” to shatter deeply rooted beliefs (e.g. of security or impunity) to shake people out of their apathy and to understand that taking things for granted only creates vulnerability. This is greatly increased by denial when a threat comes from within, making it totally unrecognisable until it is too late. The time to put safeguards in place is before a tragedy happens – not after, as the devastation from the tragic event could remove forever, certain features which are characteristic of a community. In Australia, it is time to look at creating safeguards for our future as a Democratic Society. The situation in politics allows One Entity to control all aspects of our governance, as shown by the Labor Party being in government in all States and at the Federal level … at thesame time. There is also talk of a Republic. |
What considerations will be given to the People and what safeguards will they have to retain the Freedoms and Democracy they enjoy, is as yet indeterminable. ABPAC is the Neutral Platform aimed at being a safety net for the People. Being established by the People, for the People, its effectiveness cannot be watered down. It represents the essence of democracy and as a watchdog over the rights and interests of the People, it has the right to question and/or oppose any action or policy that may impact on the well-being or lifestyle factors of the community. In this regard, ABPAC will be vigilant in respect of proposed changes, to ensure that all information relative to such a change is fully disclosed to the People to enable them to make a decision in respect of a change that may contain factors affecting their lifestyle or Generally, such matters become an issue of “Rights” and in our Democratic Country of Australia, the ideals and principles of these rights were established under Bills of Rights and Acts of Parliament that were all inherent in the Constitutions of the States, the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia and further enforced by the principles effected in the name of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. ABPAC will use the relevant resource to uphold and protect the rights of Australians. With no Upper House, what changes have been made to the Constitution of Queensland that enabled him to make such a statement ? ABPAC will carry out the due process to find out. Then, as required, ABPAC will instigate action right up to and including the High Court of Australia, to rectify any unlawful change to the Constitution of Queensland. The same will be done in respect of other issues as they may arise. Of particular note is the overriding of the Majority Will of the People of Queensland when they voted against Council Amalgamations – the State Government under Premier Anna Bligh forced the amalgamation of 81 Shires/Councils, against their will. These are the rights of the People of Queensland and Australia under the laws and legislation used to establish our democracy. Unfortunately, an individual (with some exceptions) does not have the resources to fight for his/her rights. It takes many individuals to be able to mount such a challenge. That’s what ABPAC will do : ABPAC has been established, primarily to be the umbrella under which the many organisations representing the varied and distinctive sectors of our society, as well as individuals and businesses, can be united in securing and safeguarding the rights and interests of all Australians. It does not seek, nor does it intend to seek to cut across the purpose or the function or the benefits of any other Organisation. It does not seek to entice Members away from other Organisations, but encourages them to become more active in their Organisations, with the added benefit of being a part of an unbounded neutral platform giving them the opportunity to : ABPAC should be seen as being COMPLEMENTARY to any Community Group or Organisation and it should be the aim of all Community Groups or Organisations to be a part of it. The ‘big picture’ of Democratic Rights is that it is the underpinning strength of All Causes. Without Democratic Rights, the right to protest is lost. ABPAC’s primary function is that it stands for Democratic Rights—their redemption, their retention and their safeguarding. "The fight for Democratic Rights can continue and it has no dependency on any other cause. Any Other Cause cannot continue if the fight for Rights is lost". Joining ABPAC should be the first item on the agenda of all Individuals, even if they have formed a Group, Association or other Body, with the aim of working for an outcome in respect of a Cause, as the well-being of their Democratic Rights is the most important base dynamic of their Cause. Becoming a Member of ABPAC should be mandatory for all Australians who want to live in a true Democracy. |
